Tuna Sandwich (South Indian Style)

This is a quick lunch box recipe made with left overs Sura Puttu (Tuna) and Mint Chutney. Use mayonaisse and cheese. Use Yellow fin Tuna or White Albacore Tuna. Both kids and adult will enjoy this.

Ingredients
  

  • Bread - 8 to 10 slices
  • Butter/ Spreadable butter - to toast
  • Cooked Sura Puttu - 2 cup See Notes
  • Mint Chutney - 2 to 3 tsp per sandwich See notes
  • Mayonaise -
  • Shredded cheese - 3/4 cup
  • Green chilly / Jalapeno - thinly sliced optional

Equipment

  • Sandwich maker can be made on a non-stick pan

Method
 

  1. Preheat the sandwich maker or the non-stick pan
  2. Spread one size of bread with Mint chutney.
  3. Cover with Tuna puttu.
  4. Squeeze some mayonnaise and cover with shredded or sliced cheese.
  5. To make it spicy add thinly sliced green chilly or Jalapeno. If you have pickled chilly it pairs perfectly with this sandwich
  6. Spread butter or more mint chutney on the second slice and cover the sandwich.
  7. Spread butter on top of the sandwich, to crisp the sandwich
  8. Place sandwich in hot sandwich maker. When ready serve hot with Ketchup or more mint chuney

Notes

  1. If you do not have mint chutney, you can use plain butter and garlic powder sprinkled on top. 
  2. If using a non-stick pan,  cook in medium low heat and use 2 spatulas to help turn the sandwich .
